Certified Legal Marketing Associate™
The Certified Legal Marketing Associate™ (CLMA) certification was created for professionals who are starting their careers in the field of legal marketing. Recipients of this certification have demonstrated basic knowledge of legal marketing and are able to support marketing efforts in law firms and legal departments.
Routes to Certification
The Institute makes available 2 certification routes to qualified candidates who are interested in earning the Certified Legal Marketing Associate™ credential.
Accredited Course Route
To qualify for this route, a certification candidate must complete an accredited course delivered directly by the Institute, by an accredited training provider or by an academic partner. These courses are identified by a unique course code and are associated with a specific credential offered by the Institute.
Exam Route
This route is open to any candidate that already has the necessary knowledge to practice legal marketing in a entry-level capacity. The exam route is available only for the CLMA and CLDM certifications and the CLMA exam is based on the Become a Legal Digital Marketer – Second Edition publication (Chapter 2, 15, and 16).
How can your earn you CLMA certification and badge
Step 1: Request your LDMI ID
The LDMI ID serves as a unique identification code assigned by the Institute to applicants, members and certified professionals with the objective of identifying them across the different Institute’s products and services.
Step 5: Pay the certification fee and get certified!
The certification fee is paid when purchasing an exam attempt and is already included if you choose the accredited course route. Review the CLMA handbook to learn more about fees and payments.
Step 2: Choose your certification route
The Institute makes available 2 certification routes for qualified candidates who are interested in earning the Certified Legal Marketing Associate™ credential.
Step 3: Complete an accredited course or pass the CLMA exam
Complete an accredited course delivered by an ATP or through our eLearning Portal, or pass the CLMA exam available through the exam center.
Step 4: Apply for the CLMA certification
By completing an accredited course or passing the CLMA exam, you will automatically receive your certification through the Certifier platform.

For how long is the CLMA certification valid?
The certification is valid for life.
What certification routes are available for the CLMA credential?
The CLMA credential can only be earned through the exam route and the accredited course route.
What is the fee for the CLMA certification?
The certification fee is USD 150.00 for all certification routes except for the accredited course route. In case of taking an accredited certification course, the fee for the certification is already included in the course fee.
How can I prepare for the CLMA certification exam?
The Become a Legal Digital Marketer’s book serves as the official study guide for the exam, however, you can consult other sources to increase your knowledge of the discipline. The exam is based on chapter 1, 15 and 16. We recommend that you take the practice exams before taking the official exam. Remember that when you purchase an exam attempt you will have 2 additional attempts included. Subsequent attempts will have a 50% discount.
